A Portland Holiday Tradition of Sharing

Every Christmas Day, Potluck in the Park welcomes more than a thousand guests to share a free, festive meal filled with warmth, dignity, and community.

Held in partnership with the Portland Art Museum, our Christmas Dinner brings together hundreds of volunteers and donors who believe no one should be alone or hungry on Christmas.

What to Expect

Guests enjoy a traditional turkey dinner with all the trimmings, live jazz from some of Portland’s favorite musicians, and a visit from Santa Claus — complete with free photos to take home.

Each year, the museum’s ballroom is transformed into a Christmas wonderland with fresh garland, poinsettias, wreaths, and the joyful hum of shared connection.

Made Possible by Volunteers & Community Partners

Behind every meal are hundreds of volunteers who prepare food, decorate the ballroom, serve guests, and clean up afterward — joined by local partners who donate food, flowers, supplies, and time.

It’s a true community effort, made possible entirely through the generosity of people who care.

How You Can Be Part of It

We welcome donations of homemade or commercial non-perishable pies, cakes, cookies, and pastries to serve our guests at the Christmas Dinner and our Sidewalk Coffee & Pastry Café.

The Heart of the Holiday

For over 30 years, Potluck in the Park’s Christmas Dinner has been more than a meal — it’s a reminder of what community looks like at its best:

Neighbors caring for neighbors, strangers sharing stories, and a city coming together to celebrate kindness.

Your Gift Makes the Season Brighter

Every donation helps us provide meals, warmth, and holiday cheer to Portlanders in need.
